The “Word” Translation: An Issue?

Resting_area_Mactan_shore_low_tideIs there any significant issue pertaining to the translation of the “Word”? Examining the verses below, Is it not that the basic purpose of the “Word” is to inform and not to dis-inform?

8The Lord give message to Zechariah. 9Long ago I gave these commands to my people. ‘You must see that justice is done, and must show kindness and mercy to one another. 10Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, who live among you, or anyone else in need. And do not plan ways of hurting one another.’

11But my people stubbornly refused to listen. They close their minds and 12made their heart (more…)

Characters in the “Word”

Low_tide_shore_Mactan_CebuWho are the main characters of the “Word”? We will try to answer it initially by way of illustration by citing a verse:

Do for others what you want them to do for you: this is the meaning of the Law of Moses and of the teachings of the prophets” (Matthew 7:12, TEV)

Above verse is admittedly a message. But what do you notice from it? Is it not that you are looking at the words? Is the image or statue or picture of any person manifesting in the words? No.

Looking at another perspective, the “Word”, as a communication process, is composed of three participants, to wit; 1) Sender, 2) Messenger and the 3) Receiver. These are the three major (more…)

What is the “Word”?

Green_park_Mactan_Cebu_CityWhat happened to the “Word”? Is it vague or was it rendered not understandable by teachers and their followers?

In the beginning The Word already existed: The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2From the very beginning The Word was with God. 3Through him God made all things, not one thing in all creation was made without him. 4The Word was the source of life and this life brought light to people. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out. (John 1:1-5,TEV)

14The Word became a human being and, full of grace and  truth, lived among us. We saw his glory, the glory which he received as the Father’s only Son.  (John 1:14, TEV)
